Firm History
Humble Beginnings
In 1967, Munford "Monk" Fuller joined forces with Charlie Smith to form Smith & Fuller Architects. As a small, local firm, their focus was on providing affordable, quality architecture. Their philosophy was that every client deserves a high standard of design regardless of the project budget. With this in mind, they provided design and construction administration services on a variety of project types, eventually specializing in K-12 educational facilities to meet the needs of the residents of the Pee Dee region of South Carolina.
Period of Change and Growth
Throughout the years, our firm has experienced considerable growth and transformation. With the retirement of some principals and the addition of new members, we have undergone multiple name changes, ultimately becoming FW Architects, Inc. in 1995, which remains our name today. Despite our growth, we remain a mid-size firm, which enables us to provide personalized attention to every project. Although our expertise lies in K-12 educational facility design, we have diversified into various other forms of architecture, while maintaining our core philosophy. We remain focused on our goals while being adaptable to new opportunities, ensuring the stability necessary for sustained success.
